The public report about activities in 2005

The main goal of the civil association of Bolíto in 2005 was to help children, which went through burn injuries in the whole area of ČR. The main projects of Bolíto in 2005 were:

1. The organization of foreign curative-rehabilitative stay for 15 children after serious burn injuries in Primorsko, Bulgaria. The stay was particulary provided by donation of the Ministry of Health, ČR. The remaining part of the resources was obtained from association incomes (sponsor gifts from individuals, companies, profit from benefit concerts). The criteria of a selection of the children to stay was the relevance of permanent traumatogenic consequences and social and family situation. The physiotherapeutical part of staying programme was specialized in reinforcing some rehabilitation habits with polarization in prevention of developing scar contractions. Exercises were conceived for training of gentle motions, persistence, reinforcement of important groups of muscles and improvement of childrens physical condition (see the appendix program). We took advantage of a profitable seaside climate for breathing rehabilitation and local improvement of often eczematous areas due to taking of skin grafts located at donor sites. The basic reason for the stay is psychosocial rehabilitation of the children – increasing of their self-confidence and trust in their own abilities which results in better submission into children's society and family. ''The burn camp'' was very much appreciated from the sides of children and their parents, also according to numerous parents and children's letters.

From the letter of mother of Rosťa N. … otherwise Rosťa was alone (without his family) on a one week stay in Sloup in Bohemia, where they were biking, taking trips and going to an open air pool and he managed all that perfectly. He was for the first time without us and you (Bolíto) among foreign people in fact and he didn’t meet SO FAR any negative admission from children or adults as for his injury. At the open air pool he was swimming in a T-shirt though, but the leaders said that other children accepted him among them normally and without any needless questions. What I appriciated probably most from our family, because I was afraid that the problem like the shower room or visit of the open air pool would STOP him from going to next camps, schools in nature or other children activities outside the home. I think that Bolíto helped him much at the beginning and thanks to those one week stays he realizes that he’s not alone. For all that I thank you all... .

2. The benefit concert. 13.6.2005 the benefit concert of the music group 100 zvířat took place on behalf of the Bolíto association in the music club Vagon, Národní třída, Prague. The concert was connected with exhibition of posters and informative materials about association activities. About 350 beholders joined the concert. Profit of concert was in keeping with gathering MHMP/118198/2005 in total 52 583 Kč and 5O Euro and will be used for organizing other burn camps.

3. web sites. In 2006 we managed to obtain cooperation with the company AMI Praha s.r.o, which registered current internet address www.bolito.cz and created more modern and more lucid web sites. The set of the sites is informative for parents and for laical public about the children burns treatment and care of permanent post-traumatic consequences.

4. The support of talented children.. Bolíto financially supports the studies of talented children, who suffered burn traumas. In 2005 we helped to get stipendium for Petra P. at private high school Open Gate in Říčany u Prahy and we provided her assets for buying school equipment.

5.In September 2005 at KPM FNKV there was an expert seminar about summer rehabilitation camps for children burn victims. The seminar was positively appreciated according to the professional level. In cooperation with the management of the KPM we placed information boards in the entrance hall of the clinic.
